The 12th Biennial National Indigenous Diabetes Conference, themed “Rooted in Wellness through Wholistic Health,“ marks a significant milestone as the National Indigenous Diabetes Association (NIDA) proudly celebrates 30 years of supporting First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples in Canada. This landmark event brings together individuals with lived experience, Aboriginal Diabetes Initiative Workers, Indigenous front-line workers, leadership, Community Diabetes Prevention Workers, diabetes educators, health managers, dietitians, nutritionists, nurses, researchers, industry professionals, and government representatives. Together, they will share knowledge and practices in diabetes prevention, self-management, and wholistic health, all grounded in Indigenous ways of knowing.

As a vibrant platform for knowledge exchange, the conference will emphasize culturally relevant strategies for diabetes prevention and management within Indigenous Nations. It will spotlight traditional teachings and practices that foster wholistic wellness by connecting the physical, spiritual, emotional, and mental aspects of health.

Delegates will have the opportunity to enhance their knowledge, skills, and awareness through an engaging agenda featuring interactive workshops, oral presentations, field trips, plenary sessions, and inspiring keynote addresses. This enriching experience will also offer unique opportunities to learn from Indigenous communities and peoples, while building meaningful connections and strengthening networks.
