The Isaksimagit Inuusirmi Katujjiqatigiit Embrace Life Council was established in January 2004 as a result of partnership efforts between the Government of Nunavut, Nunavut Tungavik Incorporated, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and many others. Your Health Matters Calendar

Call for Nominations!

Opportunity for Community-based Food Security
/ Food Sovereignty Programs and Nutrition Programs!

The National Aboriginal Diabetes Association publishes a yearly calendar that extols the virtues of healthy living. This year, the 2019 Your Health Matters Calendar would like to feature community-based programs/activities in food security and food sovereignty from every region/territory in Canada.

This resource is marketed to Indigenous communities and helps raise awareness and educate about community-based diabetes prevention and the activities people and communities do in diabetes prevention and care. Our plan is to showcase the many community gardens, greenhouses, community freezers, food sharing networks, in First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities across Canada in order to honour what these workers do and the hard work they do in their communities. We are asking for people working in these programs to contact us if they would like their program to be in the calendar or for those around them to nominate them. Please submit nominations by September 14, 2018

What we require from the candidate is a photo of program/activity staff, the history of the program/activity, their reflections on the successes of their program/activity, a gardening/harvesting tip or recipe, and a brief
bio.
